Raku bowl with lid
This Raku sculpture by Eva Paradis has a softly organic shape that brings to mind a seed, pumpkin or plant in motion.
Each sculpture is hand-built and unique – created in the Japanese raku tradition where fire, air, water and clay interact in a dramatic process.
During firing, the sculpture is heated to approximately 900°C, removed from the kiln red-hot, and cooled rapidly. The rapid temperature change creates the characteristic crackles in the glaze, while the reduction in sawdust gives the deep gray tone and metallic luster.
The surface is alive and bears traces of both movement and stillness – a meeting between the power of nature and the precision of craftsmanship.
Fired in very limited numbers in our workshop on Öland.
Height: approx. 13 cm
Diameter: approx. 9 cm
