Experiences and workshops at Paradisverkstaden
Experiences and workshops at Paradisverkstaden
The courses are designed for individuals and are led by our designers and invited teachers. No prior experience is required, just curiosity and a desire to create.
These are experiences to carry with you for a long time or to give to someone who has long dreamed of working with ceramics, form, and the knowledge of the hand.
A two-day course where ceramics and yoga come together in a shared creative process.
Throughout the course, we use the body’s movement, stillness, and balance as a starting point for form. Through yoga sessions, mindfulness, and sketching exercises, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how the body can be translated into sculpture.
The course is led by Hannah, Moa, and Eva Paradis in sketching and ceramics, together with instructor Marie Thunberg, who leads the yoga and mindfulness sessions.
During the two-day course, you will:
– create a sculpture inspired by yoga and mindfulness postures
– explore how movement and presence influence form
– have time for both reflection and hands-on making
When: 27–28 June

Drawing inspiration from Öland’s rich birdlife, we work with sketching, watercolour studies, and decoration. Together with Eva and Hannah Paradis, we explore pattern, colour, and how nature studies can be translated onto the surface of ceramics.
The course is as much about observation as it is about making—learning to see detail, rhythm, and movement in feathers and landscapes.
During the two-day course, you will:
– work with sketching and watercolour
– learn how studies are translated into ceramic decoration
– develop your personal expression

Raku firing has been part of Paradisverkstaden for many years. In Raku, all elements come together in a single process—fire, air, water, and clay.
Raku is an ancient Japanese ceramic technique where rapid firing, special glazes, and reduction create distinctive expressions. Crackles, tonal shifts, metallic lustre, and the characteristic dark clay body emerge in the meeting between heat and oxygen deprivation. The result can never be fully controlled—each piece becomes unique.
During the workshop (approx. 3 hours), you will be introduced to Raku’s origins, techniques, and methods. You’ll work with sketching and decoration and take part in the preparations before firing.

Taking part in a course at Paradisverkstaden is about more than learning a technique - here, you will:
– work slowly and mindfully with your hands
– gain insight into our ceramic craft and creative process
– experience Öland, our atelier and workshop, and the environment where everything takes shape
Courses are held in small groups, allowing space for guidance, conversation, and deeper exploration.
